Starting our drawing
- First thing first, draw four construction guidelines. One down the center of the page, one horizontal across the middle and two diagonal lines. We will be erasing these lines later so don’t make them too dark. These lines will help us to draw our knot accurately.
- Next step is to add two parallel vertical lines to the left of the center guideline. These lines should be parallel and of equal lengths.
- Now we will add two new lines on the other side of the center guideline. Make sure these two lines are equally as far apart as the last two lines.
- We will now join the lines together by adding arcs. Draw two arcs connecting the two outer lines, then two smaller arcs connecting the two inner lines.
- Repeat steps two through four on the horizontal axis. All lines and arcs should be the same size as the first set. Use the guidelines to help with placement.
- Draw a circle. The center of the circle should be where all the construction lines intersect. The edges of the circle should be inside of the outer arcs.
- Draw a second circle inside the last circle. The space between the circles should be the same distance as the first parallel lines.
- It is now time to remove the first three construction lines.
- Our last step is to remove some of the interior lines to give the illusion of one continuous overlapping line. We have shown the lines to remove in red on our drawing. Careful to only remove the lines we have shown in red.
- We are now done! Look through our website for other tutorials!
